Summary

As a wider swath of Americans seek the opportunities created by higher education, colleges and universities are beginning to confront a challenge faced by a growing number of their students: housing insecurity. College administrators, counselors, and professors are often left with few solutions to offer students who find themselves in unstable housing situations, suggesting a need for new approaches. This policy brief describes the situation and lays out some potential next steps.

This policy brief was co-published by WISCAPE and the Center for Financial Security.
