UW-Madison's Jerlando F. L. Jackson and LaVar J. Charleston are co-editors of a new book, Advancing Equity and Diversity in Student Affairs: A Festschrift in Honor of Melvin C. Terrell, with Northern Illinois University’s Cornelius Gilbert.
This book is a volume in the series, Contemporary Perspectives on Access, Equity, and Achievement, which is focused on expanding the scholarly literature on the intersection of access and equity and explaining how it impacts academic achievement for students in the 21st century.
Advancing Equity and Diversity in Student Affairs: A Festschrift in Honor of Melvin C. Terrell aims to highlight how student affairs has grown as a field of practice in response to the growth of student diversity on college campuses, and honor the remarkable career of Melvin C. Terrell.
Jerlando F. L. Jackson is UW-Madison's Vilas Distinguished Professor of Higher Education and the director of Wisconsin’s Equity and Inclusion Laboratory (Wei LAB), which is housed in the Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER). He is a faculty member with the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis and and is a Wisconsin Center for the Advancement of Postsecondary Education (WISCAPE) faculty affiliate.
LaVar J. Charleston is the assistant director and senior research associate of the Wei LAB, and also teaches in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis.
