Video from the Sept. 21 public forum, “Moving Wisconsin Forward: Reinvesting in the UW System,” is now available on the WisconsinEye website.
The event featured UW System President Ray Cross, former state Sen. Dale Schultz, state Rep. Dianne Hesselbein, Dane County Supervisor Shelia Stubbs, UW-Madison associate professor Nick Hillman, UW-Madison student Mariam Coker, and Jeff Williams, president of Lucigen Corporation. The forum provided a platform for community members to discuss how to keep the UW System strong in a time of ongoing funding cuts and tuition freezes.
“We need to support the university when we are around conversations that are not very flattering and distinctly anti-intellectual,” said Schultz during the panel discussion. “We need to stand up for faculty and staff. We need to get people to understand the concept of lifelong learning and just how lucky we are to have this institution."
The forum was sponsored by Team Gold, a west-side Madison neighborhood team; the Wisconsin Center for the Advancement of Postsecondary Education (WISCAPE); the La Follette School of Public Affairs; Kiefer Law Office LLC; and Paula Bonner, WAA President and Chief Alumni Officer.
