WISCAPE's Work

The Wisconsin Center for the Advancement of Postsecondary Education was founded in 2001 on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. It is housed in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis (ELPA) in the School of Education.

Mission

The mission of WISCAPE is to support the pursuit, sharing, and implementation of promising ideas for addressing fundamental challenges in postsecondary education in Wisconsin, the United States, and internationally. WISCAPE supports and disseminates the research of faculty and students in the Higher, Postsecondary, and Continuing Education (HPCE) program and supports the HPCE master’s and doctoral programs.

Rooted in the Wisconsin Idea—pursuing research and inquiry aimed at solving real-world problems—WISCAPE reaches out to and brings together diverse stakeholders to engage in spirited dialogue and learn with and from one another in cultivating, harnessing, and exchanging policies and practices for bolstering higher education. While HPCE faculty are the primary researchers within WISCAPE, administrators, staff, students, policymakers, and citizens are major participants and partners in ‚Äčthe center's work.

What We Do

Some of the specific activities that WISCAPE uses to engage its audiences include:

  • Presenting research findings and implications
  • Producing and distributing publications
  • Hosting and co-sponsoring seminars and other events
  • Bringing together stakeholders through meetings and discussions
  • Serving as a resource for the news media
