Posselt coverJoin us for a discussion with Julie Posselt, author of Inside Graduate Admissions: Merit, Diversity, and Faculty Gatekeeping.

Racial and gender inequities in doctoral education are widely known, and diversity is a well-established value in American higher education. Why, then, do many professors continue to rely on graduate admissions criteria that undermine equity and diversity? What can departments do to bring about change? Through two studies, Posselt portrays graduate admissions from professors’ own point of view and offers a balanced assessment of entrenched barriers and organizational pathways to more equitable student outcomes.

This event is part of the Furthering College Access and Opportunity spring speaker series, hosted by the Wisconsin Center for the Advancement of Postsecondary Education (WISCAPE) and cosponsored by the Center for Academic Excellence, the Executive Board of the Teaching Assistants' Association, the Wisconsin Collaborative Education Research Network, and the Wisconsin HOPE Lab
