Growing up in the city of Harbin in Northeast China, Xueli Wang dreamed she would one day become a novelist. Instead, a series of twists and turns reshaped her ambitions and led her to the life of an academic at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In September, she began her new "dream job" as assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis (ELPA) and scholar at the Wisconsin Center for the Advancement of Postsecondary Education (WISCAPE).
